Survivor Micronesia - Episode 6

Last week the tribes were reconfigured to into 2 8-person tribes with equal numbers of Fans and Faves on each.

Night: Fan Erik at the Malakala camp after the eviction of Joel, the strongest of the Fans, talking to the camera. “I felt pretty shafted to see Joel go. I mean, those guys are tough as nails. We cannot trust the Favorites at all.”

What Erik doesn’t know is that Joel’s eviction was engineered by Fan Tracy to protect her only ally and the game’s weakest player, Fan Chet, who the Faves unanimously wanted out before Tracy went to work on them.

Morning: Tracy and Erik. Tracy tells Erik that the Faves will vote him out next, as their eviction of Joel has made it clear they want to eliminate the Fans, starting with the strongest. “I think you are next to go,” she tells him. He falls for it hook, line and sinker. She convinces him that all they need to do is swing one Fave over to their side to be in charge and promptly heads off to work on Ami, who is the least solid in the Fave alliance.

Ami seems amendable to Tracy’s proposal. The shot of the lesbian Playboy model strolling down the beach with her arm around hottie Tracy’s waist convinces me that Tracy is one of the most subtle schemers Survivor has had.

The week’s challenge starts with two “tunnels” (3 by 3 open-ended cages made out of tree branches). Teams must swim out to a raft and bring back bundles of boards, branches and rope. They get these to shore and have 10 minutes to use the goods to block the other team’s tunnel. The first team to unblock their tunnel and get all team members through wins a visit from a couple of local fishermen.

Jonathan’s injured knee is still bad, leaving him hobbling on one stiff leg. As the promos have let us know all week long, if his knee is this bad he’s got bigger trouble than winning a luxury challenge. Nevertheless, Airia wins. While they wait for the fishermen a member of the medical staff is brought in to check out Jonathan’s knee. The wound has abscessed and he has to be hospitalized or risk death from blood poisoning. He weeps in frustration and disappointment.

Jason accompanies Chet to Exile Island. Jason follows the clues and finds the dildo-shaped peeled stick Ozzy left after taking the immunity idol. He believes he’s found the original. Maybe. In a voice over Ozzy identifies Jason as, “from what I’ve heard,” not the brightest bit of silicon on the beach. But even low-watt Jason admits to the camera that the stick is a sorry looking excuse for an idol. Still, he puts it in his pack. In one odd cut, Jason takes it out and tries it down the front of his cut-offs. They guys see another guy come back from Exile Island with his johnson grown several sizes, there’ll be a fight to be the one who gets exiled next.

Over at Airia the fishermen show the tribe what to look for and how to fish. They also bait crab traps and gather the prey by moonlight. A fish stew is made and Airia eats well.

The immunity challenge. Malakala learns about Jonathan’s evacuation. Teams are even at 7-7. Jeff asks Jason about the immunity idol. He’s says he found nothing and that he thinks Ozzy has already found it. Jeff asks Ozzy about it and Ozzy gives himself away for those able to read between the lines. He says, “I don’t know if he isn’t that good at following clues or if somebody else has already found it.” So Ozzy, how good does one have to be to follow the clues? Only somebody who’s done it successfully would know.

For the challenge, all but 2 tribe members are in waist-deep water. They have two 8 ft poles with flat tops. The other two team members climb to a platform. One at a time they balance on the first pole and cross to the second as the tribe members bring the first pole around for them to cross to next. They must do this until they cross about 50 yards of open water to another tower, then the tribe heads back to get the second member. When both have been successfully transported, all must swim to a tower with a small platform on top. First team to get all 7 members standing on the platform wins immunity.

Airia says screw this. The first person on a pole stays on the pole. James carries the pole while the other tribe members hold it steady and they walk to the other platform. They deposit the first member before Malakal has gone two steps. Airia does the same thing with Pavarti and, despite her slipping into the water as she transfers to the opposite platform and having to go back and start all over, they still win by a huge margin. Malakala is headed to tribal council, having yet to win a challenge since the reconfiguration.

Tracy lines up Erik and Ami to back her and Chet and vote off Ozzy. The only problem is that Chet has had it. Jonathan’s fate has inspired him. He’s had a sore foot for awhile and he decides it’s infected and he has to go. His alliance members beg him to stick it out for one last tribal council. Whether he agrees or not, there’s no denying that Tracy is the best schemer on Micronesia – and possibly on any Survivor ever.

At tribal council Ozzy tells Jeff that Chet will be leaving and the tribe is in agreement, even Chet. When Jeff reads the votes the first 4 are for Chet and the last 3 stay in the hopper. You can find out who the unrevealed votes were for elsewhere, but that would be cheating. I’m thinking Tracy got her group to go along with Chet’s wishes rather than expose her alliance. Watch out – we may have a winner.
